Artist’s Narrative:

“With ‘Under the Sea,’ I wanted to translate the sensation of weightlessness and the ethereal light that exists only beneath the waves. A fluid acrylic technique drives this piece, letting the paint move and interact organically. This mimics the unpredictable nature of ocean currents. I focused on a primary palette of tranquil blues and deep indigos. However, it’s the sudden bursts of magenta and violet that represent the unexpected life found in a coral reef.

The intricate ‘cell’ structures—those small, bubble-like patterns scattered throughout the composition—were carefully coaxed out of the paint to add a layer of organic texture. To me, these represent the tiny details that make the sea so mysterious. For example, air bubbles, microscopic organisms, and the shimmering reflection of light all add to this effect.

I added a touch of sun-bright yellow at the base. This suggests the sandy floor where the light finally comes to rest. As a result, this painting brings a sense of cool, refreshing calm. It also brings the boundless wonder of the marine world into your home.”
