Artist’s Narrative:

“‘Ascending Souls’ serves as a visual exploration of the journey from the physical realm to the ethereal. I wanted to capture the movement of energy as it leaves the grounded, vibrant intensity below. Then it rises toward a calmer, more mysterious horizon above. In fact, the bold, textured strokes of crimson and deep pink at the base represent the raw pulse and heat of life. Consequently, as the eye travels upward, these colors give way to sweeping, smoky grays and cool blues. This suggests a transition into spiritual peace.

I chose acrylic on canvas to allow for the heavy, vertical layering that creates this distinct sense of lift and momentum. Additionally, the decision to leave this piece unframed allows the energy of the brushwork to bleed right to the edges. This emphasizes that this transformation is boundless. Ultimately, this painting is meant to evoke a sense of hope and continuity for the viewer. As a result, it offers a contemplative focal point for any sanctuary, reminding us that there is always a beautiful, rising light even within the smoke of transition”.
